Professional advice on course of study is given by counselors. The counselors are available for conferences with parents and students. Information on colleges, scholarships, and vocations can be obtained through the Guidance Department. Students are encouraged to see their counselor whenever there is a need:
- When you feel you are not doing well in some classes
- When you need help in planning or adjusting your program
- When you would like an interpretation of various tests you have been given
- When you would like to talk to someone about a problem
- When you want information about future educational or occupational opportunities
Any student wishing to meet with a guidance counselor should request a pass to the guidance office or leave a note for his/her guidance counselor asking for a pass.
Career Counseling
If a student needs information concerning specific careers or colleges, SCOIS serves as a valuable resource. Please visit www.scois.net to access this information. Westside students can obtain the ID and password for SCOIS from their guidance counselor. Other resources available to students that promote career development are job shadowing and service learning. Information about these resources can be obtained in guidance as well.
Westide's new Career Center is now open and available for students to research colleges, scholarships, and careers. Feel free to come by guidance and check it out!
